Prolonged daily ingestion may result in various degrees of dental fluorosis in pediatric patients under age 6 years, especially if the water fluoridation exceeds 0.6 ppm, since younger pediatric patients frequently cannot perform the brushing process without significant swallowing. Use in pediatric patients under age 6 years requires special supervision to prevent repeated swallowing of toothpaste which could cause dental fluorosis. Pediatric patients under age 12 should be supervised in the use of this product. Read directions carefully before using. Keep out of reach of infants and children.

Use this medication in place of your regular toothpaste unless otherwise directed by your doctor/dentist. Apply at least a 1 inch (2.5 centimeters) strip of the medication to a soft-bristled toothbrush, and brush your teeth for at least 1 minute. Spit out the medication after use. Some products recommend rinsing your mouth thoroughly after use. If you are using the gel form of the toothpaste, children should rinse their mouth thoroughly right away after brushing. For adults, do not rinse your mouth, eat, or drink for at least 30 minutes after use to get the best results.

Instructions for use of this toothpaste are very straight-forward. You just brush with a pea-drop amount of the toothpaste gel once a day in place of your regular toothpaste. For best results after use, do not eat, drink, or rinse for 30 minutes. PreviDent is also great because it comes in child/adolescent-friendly flavors: mint and fruitastic.

Ha toothpaste is non-toxic, unlike fluoride toothpastes that require a Poison Control warning on the back. If your little one were to swallow an entire tube of it, the results would be about the same as if s/he drank a cup of bone broth!

This is a very TARGETED probiotic for oral health specifically. It contains the specific bugs you need for a healthy oral microbiome. This is an essential part to resetting the oral microbiome. Plus, you chew it or let it dissolve in your mouth instead of swallow it so the bugs get to where they need to go.

Fluoride was the first type of therapeutic (active) ingredient to be included in the formulation of toothpaste. And over the last 60+ years of clinical research, studies have thoroughly documented its effectiveness in helping to prevent cavities and lowering decay rates.

There are several different types of fluoride compounds that can be included in toothpaste formulations as effective agents in preventing tooth decay. In the EU, there are around 20 used. But in the USA, only three are allowed and they cannot be used in combination. They are:

We will mention that beyond just being a source of fluoride ions, the compound stannous fluoride also has antibacterial properties. This gives toothpaste formulated with it that added benefit without the need for the inclusion of additional ingredients.

But for people who are cavity-prone, or in a position where they are currently at increased risk for decay (like persons who have experienced gum recession), the extra level of protection that only a prescription product can provide may be indicated.

Regular OTC fluoride toothpastes are effective cavity preventers too. A review of dental literature performed by Walsh concluded that a dentifrice must deliver a fluoride concentration of at least 1000 ppm to produce significant anticavity effects.

In cases where only minimal evidence of fluorosis is evident, no treatment is required if the person considers the appearance of their teeth acceptable. The integrity of the affected areas of enamel is seldom a concern.

In situations where the fluorosis is readily apparent and objectionable to the patient, a repair might be made by placing a dental filling (tooth bonding), porcelain veneer, or crown. Determining what type of restoration makes the most appropriate choice will need to be determined by the treating dentist.
